Neurological services we provide:
We offer a variety of diagnostic and treatment services to restore your neurological health. Please discuss any questions you have about your condition or care with your neurologist.
Botox (botulinum toxin injections)
These injections are used to treat muscle spasms. We offer this type of treatment to adults experiencing severe abnormal head and neck pain (cervical dystonia), eye muscle problems (strabismus) or abnormal spasms of the eyelids (blepharospasm).
The injections work by blocking the nerve signals that fire directly to your muscles from your nerve cells. This reduces muscle pain and/or spasms.
Electromyograms (EMGs) and nerve conduction studies
Measuring the electrical activity in muscles and nerves can help find diseases that damage muscles, such as muscular dystrophy, or damage nerves, such as peripheral neuropathy. An electromyogram (EMG) measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction.
Nerve conduction studies measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals. Nerves control the muscles in the body by sending electrical signals (impulses), and these impulses make the muscles react in specific ways. Nerve and muscle disorders cause the muscles to react in abnormal ways.
Sleep studies
People who snore loudly, wake frequently to urinate at night or wake in the morning feeling unrefreshed may have a sleep disorder. We offer sleep studies to patients experiencing symptoms of sleep disorders, including:
- Abnormal sleep behaviors
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Difficulty staying asleep
- Falling asleep at inappropriate times
- Receiving excessive total sleep time
More than 100 different disorders of sleeping and waking have been identified, and the symptoms and treatments depend on the specific sleep disorder. If a sleep disorder is present, we'll work with you to determine an effective treatment plan.
